Dixie St. outlasts Grand Canyon in 5

ST. GEORGE, Utah – Grand Canyon made Dixie State work, but couldn’t come away with the result the Antelopes were looking for.

Dixie State beat Grand Canyon 26-30, 30-23, 22-30, 30-27, 15-10 Friday night.

The Antelopes (2-10) used only eight players in the match, all of which saw time in all five games.

Senior setter Audra Slemmer had 52 assists and 14 digs. Freshman hitter Megan Toth banged 14 kills and had seven digs. Junior middle blocker Shea Robinson had 11 kills, sophomore hitter Dana Edington 21 kills and 15 digs, and sophomore hitter Whitney Estes 14 kills. Freshman libero Katie Meyers had 19 digs.

Dixie State’s Cami Johnson had 24 kills and 15 digs, Taya Langston 16 kills and four blocks, and Shalie Flannery 14 kills.

Dixie State (3-13) had 10 ½ recorded blocks, while Grand Canyon was credited with four.
