Antelopes turn up play in 4-game win
over Argonauts
Now
that’s what these girls are talking about.
Grand Canyon’s
volleyball team played its best match of the year Tuesday, beating Notre Dame
de Namur, 25-30, 30-17, 30-21, 30-27 in a non-conference date on the schedule.
GCU (2-9)
had 55 kills and hit .265 as a team.
The Antelopes
have won two of their last three matches.
With the
score tied at 27-27 in the critical Game 4, GCU dominated in crunch time when
freshman outside hitter Megan Toth banged home a kill to put the Antelopes
ahead 28-27. Junior middle blocker Shea Robinson and Toth combined on a block
to pull the ’Lopes within match point. Then Robinson banged home the
punctuation point on an overpass to secure the win.
Grand Canyon
sophomore Dana Edington had 16 kills and 18 digs.
Senior setter Audra Slemmer had 41 assists. Senior
middle blocker Ashley Bright had eight blocks,
including six solos.
Robinson
had 10 kills, Toth had 11 kills, freshman libero
Katie Meyers had 14 digs and senior defensive
specialist Aubrie Lussier 12 digs.
Notre Dame
(6-9) picked up 10 kills from Caitlin Torres,
and nine from Sarah Perry. Shasta Millhollin
had 25 assists, and Lauren Quach 17 digs.
Grand Canyon
plays at Dixie State College Friday and Saturday.
