Grand Canyon falls in 3 to Notre Dame de Namur

Grand Canyon’s volleyball team lost its Pacific West Conference opener to Notre Dame de Namur Tuesday, 30-24, 30-24, 30-28.

GCU fell to 1-9 overall, 0-1 in the PacWest. NDNU improved to 6-8, 2-0.

Notre Dame hit .336, while Grand Canyon hit .256.

Shea Robinson and Dana Edington each had 11 kills for GCU, and Whitney Estes added 10. Katie Meyers had 16 digs, and Audra Slemmer had 37 assists and 10 digs. Ashley Bright had six blocks, including four solos. Megan Toth had eight kills.

Notre Dame’s Caitlin Torres had 11 kills, as did Sarah Perry, while Emily Evans and Marissa Miller each had 10. Lauren Quach had 25 digs, and Miller 19. Pam Alano had 32 assists, and Shasta Millhollin 16.

The two teams will meet again at 7 p.m. Wednesday at Antelope Gym in a non-conference match.
