Grand Canyon University women's volleyball team will host an alumni match Saturday at 7:30 p.m. in Antelope Gym.
The Antelopes brought in seven new recruits to join a returning corps that features second team all-conference outside hitter Dana Edington (pictured) and honorable mention all-conference hitter Whitney Estes.
The Lopes finished 7-20 last season, and will be hoping for a big revitalization this season. The PacWest was awarded an automatic NCAA Tournament qualifier for the conference champion this year. Hawaii-Hilo won the league championship last season.

Grand Canyon women's volleyball team signed seven players for the upcoming season.
Junior outside hitter Heather Baron (Scottsdale, Ariz./Saguaro HS/Scottsdale CC) was a junior college honorable mention All-American in 2005. Baron (pictured) was a first team all-region selection and the region most valuable player at SCC.
Junior setter/defensive specialist Sonya Chavez (Phoenix/Tempe HS/Mesa CC) led the ACCAC in hitting percentage two years ago and averaged 8.4 assists per game in 2007. Freshman outside hitter Colleen Dunbar (North Vancouver, B.C./St. Thomas Aquinas HS) was a second team all-star last year.

Grand Canyon women's volleyball coach Kris Naber is one of 11 NCAA Division II coaches under age 40 with 200 career wins based on a report compiled by University of South Carolina Upstate assistant media relations director Joe Guistina.
Naber reached her 200th victory last season with the Antelopes. She has been coaching at GCU for 13 years. Naber is 200-188 for a .515 winning percentage.
She is among 56 coaches among all divisions to have reached the accomplishment.

Edington named 2nd team PacWest; 2 others cited
Sophomore outside hitter Dana Edington was named second team
All-Pacific West Conference, the second time she received the honor in
as many years at Grand Canyon University.
Edington, last year's
PacWest Freshman of the Year, led the conference in kills up until her
late-season injury in the final week of play, when she was sidelined
for the final two matches. She finished with 358 kills, which ranked
third in the league. Her 3.95 kills per game average was second.
Ashley
Bright, a senior middle blocker from Cottonwood Mingus, and Whitney
Estes, a sophomore outside hitter from Gardnerville, Nev., were named
honorable mention.
