Grand Canyon University freshman setter Kristen Preach (pictured, Phoenix, Ariz./Xavier Prep) was named Pacific West Conference Freshman of the Year by conference coaches.
Sophomore setter Laurann Durbin (Phoenix, Ariz./Sunnyslope) and senior outside hitter Whitney Estes (Gardnerville, Nev./Douglas) were named to the All-PacWest second team, released Wednesday.
Preach averaged 9.57 assists per set, a team-best .281 attack percentage and had 133 total kills. She added 54 block assists, fifth on the team, and had 204 digs, second on the club.
She ranked fourth in the conference in assists and fifth in hitting percentage.

Grand Canyon sophomore libero Laurann Durbin (pictured, Phoenix, Ariz./Sunnyslope) and freshman outside hitter Erica Ehlo (Spokane, Wash./Lewis and Clark) were named to PacWest Volleyball Weekly Top 10 Honor Roll for matches played Nov. 9-15.
Durbin led the PacWest in digs (57) and ranked second in digs per game (7.12).
Ehlo ranked seventh in points per game (3.75) for the week, posted 25 kills and five aces for 30 points. She ranked ninth for the week in kills per game (3.12).
GCU finished fourth in the Pacific West Conference with a 10-6 mark, its best record since the conference returned in 2006. The 'Lopes were 21-8 overall, their best record since 1999, and ended the season on a nine-game winning streak.

SAN RAFAEL, Calif. -- Grand Canyon University finished the season with its ninth-straight victory in a 3-0 triumph over Dominican Saturday.
The 'Lopes (21-8, 10-6) won by set scores of 25-9, 25-8, 25-17.
The winning streak equals the two nine-straight streaks during the 1999 season. There have only been two longer streaks in school history. The 1993 team won 12 in a row and the 1989 squad ran off 11 straight. The 21 wins are the most since the 1999 team went 25-7.
In Saturday's win, freshman Erica Ehlo (pictured, Spokane, Wash./Lewis and Clark) had 13 kills, 10 digs and three service aces. Sophomore libero Laurann Durbin (Phoenix, Ariz./Sunnyslope) had 22 digs to add to her single-season record of 584.

SAN RAFAEL, Calif. -- Grand Canyon defeated Dominican 3-2 to pick up its 20th win of the season, the most since the program went 25-7 in 1999.
GCU won by set scores of 23-25, 25-19, 19-25, 25-19, 15-8. It was the 'Lopes eighth straight win and 11th in its last 12.
With 35 digs, sophomore Laurann Durbin (pictured, Phoenix, Ariz./Sunnyslope). She has 562 for the season, besting her single-season mark of 530 set during her freshman season. She has 1,092 for her career and moved up to No. 5 on the all-time list, passing Kathy Gorraiz (1990-93), who had 1,024.
Durbin is in pursuit of Krista Jacob (2001-04) for the No. 4 spot. Jacob has 1,122. GCU finishes its regular season Saturday with an 8 p.m. rematch with Dominican.

GCU senior hitter Whitney Estes (No. 12, Gardnerville, Nev./Douglas) and freshman middle blocker Katie Peterson (No. 18, Glendale, Ariz./Mountain Ridge) were named to the PacWest Volleyball Weekly Top 10 Honor Roll for matches played Nov. 2-8.
Estes ranked fourth in the Pacific West Conference in hitting average (.366), posting 19 kills in 41 attempts with only four errors. She ranked 10th in the league in kills per game (3.17), tied for fourth in blocks per game (1.00) and tied for sixth in scoring average (3.67 ppg). She had 22 points on 19 kills and six block assists.
Peterson led the PacWest in hitting for the week with a .526 average, had 12 kills and two errors in 19 attempts. She topped the league in blocks per game (1.5). She posted nine block assists over two matches and six games.
