Grand Canyon University athletics will be featured on local television and radio Thursday.
Athletics Director Keith Baker (pictured) will be a guest on the Pat McMahon Show to air at 9 a.m. on AZTV7/Cable 13. McMahon was voted Phoenix's "Best Local TV Personality" for 2009 by AZCentral.com's Critic's Choice.
At 11:25 a.m. on the weekly "Grand Canyon University Sports Report" on AM-1060 "The Fan", GCU head men's soccer coach Petar Draksin will be welcomed by popular and personable host Kevin McCabe, a Phoenix sports TV and Radio staple for 20 years.

Grand Canyon University is the cover story for this month's issue of Sports Arizona.
Launched in April, Sports Arizona is a monthly interactive digital magazine that focuses on the Phoenix sports market.

PacWest Academics

Grand Canyon University's student-athletes posted the fourth highest grade point average in the Pacific West Conference in 2008-09.
GCU's student-athletes had a combined GPA of 2.967 for the conference's 11 sports this academic year.
BYU-Hawaii reported a 3.154 GPA, which ranked tops in the PacWest. Notre Dame de Namur was second at 3.139. Neither school fields a baseball team.
Grand Canyon boasted the most PacWest All-Academic student-athletes in the conference. Athletes who've competed at the school for at least two years and have a cumulative GPA of 3.3 were eligible for PacWest Academic honors. GCU had 33 student-athletes named to the conference all-academic list.

Grand Canyon University had the most student athletes on the 2009 PacWest Academic All-Conference team, announced Tuesday by the league's media relations office.
GCU had a league-best 34 selections on the 146 member student-athlete list that included programs from Dixie State, Notre Dame de Namur, BYU-Hawai'i, Chaminade, Hawai'i Pacific and Hawai'i Hilo.
Student-athletes had to have a 3.3 or higher cumulative GPA and be in their second year of competition at the school. NDNU was second with 22 members.
PACWEST ALL-ACADEMIC
Softball

Grand Canyon University's softball team ranked eighth in the nation out of 200 teams in team batting average (.345) according to the final NCAA Division II statistical report released Wednesday.
Bowie State's .409 batting average led NCAA Division II.
Grand Canyon ranked 21st in runs scored at 6.2 per game. Bowie State was tops at 10.5. GCU ranked 35th in slugging percentage (.469). Metro State was first at .636. The Antelopes were 36th in double plays per game at 0.36. Dixie State was first at 0.56.
GCU senior Tana Holtorf (pictured) ranked third nationally in the toughest to strike out category. She struck out just four times in 219 at-bats for a 54.8 score. Eastern New Mexico's Alexis Mayo-Otis and West Virginia Wesleyan's Trisha Thurston shared the nation's top honor in that category with a mark of 80.
