SAN FRANCISCO -- Freshman Julio Zuniga (pictured, Mexico City, Mex./Trevor Browne/Arizona State) led Grand Canyon University runners for the first time this season, helping lead the 'Lopes to a 6th place finish at the Pacific West Conference Championships at Golden Gate Park Saturday.

Zuniga placed14th and finished the 8K course in 26:55.2, just .5 better than freshman teammate Chris Lewis (Peoria, Ariz./Raymond S. Kellis).

Academy of Art won the event, taking home the school's first-ever PacWest title. GCU was just three points behind fifth-place Notre Dame de Namur. Individually, Academy of Art's Amos Maru took top honors in 25:17.0.

Zuniga's time was the Antelopes best 8K time of the season.

Sophomore Nick Cross (Apache Junction, Ariz./Apache Junction) was 35th in 29:07.6. One spot behind Cross was senior teammate Miles Lindsay (Chula Vista, Calif./Barstow), who wrapped up the course in 29:14.8.
