Senior forward Aislinn Finfrock (Glendale, AZ/Independance) scored her third goal in as many games to lead the Grand Canyon University women's soccer team to a 4-3 double-overtime win over Hawaii-Hilo today in Hilo, Hawaii.
Finfrock scored two goals in the Antelopes' 4-1 victory over Chaminade last Thursday. Today, she scored the game-tying goal at 79:01 and assisted on the game winner by junior forward Kayla Poe (Mesa, AZ/Dobson) at 114:32, a crossing shot from the right side to the opposite pole.
The 'Lopes also got unassisted goals from senior midfielder/forward Kaylen Jackson (Tucson, AZ/Amphitheater) at 53:52 and senior defender Jessica Schartz (Glendale, AZ/Paradise Valley) at 72:21.
The Vulcans' goals were by Jolene Crook off assists from Lauren Minami and Kelly White in the 11th minute; Gina Tumasone from Taylor Allen and Moani Hagiwara in the 28th minute; and Slysia Salvador off a ball from Crook in the 65th minute.
GCU raised its record to 7-7-2, 4-4-3 in the Pacific West Conference. Hawaii-Hilo fell to 3-9-4, 2-5-3.
The 'Lopes had 21 shots in the game, 11 of them on goal. The Vulcans had 20 shots, also with 11 on goal.
GCU junior goalkeeper Mileena Buchei (Stansbury, UT/Grantsville) had seven saves and the team had one. Hawaii-Hilo netminder Shanna Brown had six stops, while her team had one as well.
The 'Lopes face Dixie State on Friday in St. George, Utah.
