The Grand Canyon University (GCU) women's soccer team lost 1-0 in double overtime to Hawaii Pacific University (HPU) yesterday in Kaneohe, Hawaii.
Dyanne Anderson scored the game winner in the 105th minute as HPU improved to 8-6-1 overall and 6-4 in the Pacific West Conference. GCU fell to 6-7-2, 3-4-2.
Anderson stole an errant pass from the Antelopes' defense and created a breakaway against junior goalkeeper Mileena Buchei (pictured, Stansbury, UT/Grantsville). She touched the ball past Buchei and then ran past her to tap in the game winner.
Buchei recorded eight saves in the game. Lady Sea Warriors netminder Carianne Makino had six saves and earned the shutout.
HPU had 17 shots in the game, including 12 in the second half, and had a 9-6 edge in shots on goal.
There were 29 fouls called in the game, 15 of them against GCU.
