SANTA ROSA, Calif. -- Grand Canyon placed sixth at the Sonoma State Invitational at Santa Rosa Golf Club Tuesday.
The event, originally scheduled for three rounds, was shortened to two rounds due to rain on Monday.
Chico State won the event with a two-round score of 578 (292-286). GCU finished with a 590 (292-298). Junior Daniel Harrington (Chandler, Ariz./Dobson/South Mountain CC/Holy Names) and sophomore Richie Kernagis (pictured, Mesa, Ariz./Red Mountain/CSU Bakersfield) led GCU. They tied for 13th place with a 2-over-par 146. Harrington (74-72) shot even par Tuesday. Kernagis (72-74) shot even-par on Monday.
Matthew Garcia of Academy of Art won the event at 6-under par (68-70--138).
For Grand Canyon, junior Matt Pridey (Sioux Falls, Idaho/Washington/Augustana) shot a 150 (73-77). He tied for 33rd with sophomore teammate Tyler Wooldridge (Carefree, Ariz./Cactus Shadows), who had identical scores to Pridey for both round.
Senior Brandon Hill (Avondale, Ariz./Millennium) tied for 40th with a two-day total of 151 (76-75).
