Grand Canyon University sophomore Caitilin Hoffman (Gilbert, Ariz./Gilbert) and senior Alexis Glessner (pictured, Mesa, Ariz./Red Mountain/N. Colorado) were selected to the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference Women's Swimming and Diving Preseason All-Conference Team, released Thursday.
Hoffman was the Freshman and Female Swimmer of the Meet at last year's RMAC Championships. She qualified for three events (100 back, 200 back, and 200 IM) at the NCAA Championships, the first-ever GCU representative at the championships.
Glessner, who was a butterfly and freestyle standout and school-record holder at Division I Northern Colorado, comes to GCU with one year of eligibility, leading a strong recruiting class for the 2009-10 season.
Incarnate Word was picked to win the conference followed by Minnesota State-Moorehead, Mesa State, Colorado Mines, GCU, Texas-Permian Basin, Northern State, Nebraska-Kearney and Adams State.
Grand Canyon University's women's swimming team was predicted to come in fifth by RMAC coaches in the league's preseason poll. GCU, Incarnate Word, Texas-Permian Basin, Minnesota State-Moorehead and Northern State are associate members of the RMAC in women's swimming and diving.
