Grand Canyon University switch-hitting catcher Austin Stockfisch recently signed a contract with the Milwaukee Brewers organization.
Stockfisch is playing for the Arizona Brewers of the Arizona Rookie League.
The Scottsdale native finished his senior season at GCU with a .346 batting average and a team-best 43 RBIs. He was tied for the team lead with 15 doubles and was one of the nation's hardest to strike out. He fanned only nine times in 214 plate appearances.
In two games with the Brewers, Stockfisch is hitting .333 with a double and one RBI.
In his senior season at GCU, he was a first-team ABCA/Rawlings All-West Region perfomer and the coach's selection for the Gold Glove Award. He was also named first-team All-Pacific West Conference.
He is the third former Lope playing with a major league club or affiliate. Cody Ransom is with the New York Yankees and Brian Broderick is with the Class A Palm Beach Cardinals in the St. Louis Cardinals organization.
