Grand Canyon University's women's basketball program will have a festive home opener Saturday.
The Antelopes (1-0) play host to UC San Diego at Antelope Gym. Tip-off is slated for 2 p.m.
Prior to the game, Bridget Pettis (pictured), assistant coach of the World Champion Phoenix Mercury and a former WNBA standout will sign autographs. The public will also get to see the team's new Pacific West Conference championship banner unveiled.
The Antelopes have won three straight PacWest crowns.
GCU Women's Basketball schedule posters will also be available at the gate.

Grand Canyon University lost a very tough, physical game to New Mexico Highland University, 81-74, today in its first game of the George B. Boedecker Foundation Classic on the campus of Fort Lewis College in Durango, Colo.
Junior point guard Roman Andrade led the Cowboys with 30 points. He shot 7-for-14 from the field, including 2-for-4 on three pointers. He also made 14 of 17 free-throw attempts and had five steals, four assists and one rebound.
Three 'Lopes scored in double figures: Sophomore forward Justin Wesolowski (pictured, Mesa, AZ/University of Northern Colorado) had 14 points, while junior forward Gaby Ngoundjo (Cameroon/University of North Carolina-Charlotte) and junior forward Rony Tchatchoua (Cameroon/University of New Hampshire) each had 13 points. Wesolowski also led the team in rebounding with seven.

The Grand Canyon University women's soccer team finished the 2009 season ranked No. 8 in the official NCAA Division II West Region poll -- a first for the GCU women's soccer program.
The 'Lopes also listed six All-Pacific West Conference selections in 2009, half of whom came at the midfield position. Senior Aislinn Finfrock (pictured right, Glendale, AZ/Independence) and junior Kayla Poe (pictured left, Mesa, AZ/Dobson) were named to the second team, while freshman Sasha Scott (West Hills, CA/El Camino Real) received honorable mention.

Grand Canyon University freshman forward Kyle Ciliento (Phoenix, AZ/Pinnacle) was a first-team choice on the 2009 Daktronics NCAA Division II West Region All-Star Team announced yesterday.
In 20 starts, Ciliento scored 23 goals and 51 points to lead the Pacific West Conference in both categories. He also topped the league in game-winning goals (8), points per game (2.55) and goals per game (1.15), and tied for fourth in the conference in assists (5) and assists per game (0.25). He also was a perfect 4 for 4 in penalty-kick attempts.
He was named PacWest Player of the Year and Freshman of the Year, as well as first-team All-PacWest.

In addition to winning the 2009 Pacific West Conference championship, its third in the past four years, the Grand Canyon University men's soccer team claimed all five of the PacWest's top post-season awards.
Freshman forward Kyle Ciliento (pictured left, Phoenix, AZ/Pinnacle) was named PacWest Player of the Year and Freshman of the Year, while junior goalkeeper Ben Paneccasio (pictured right, Sydney, Australia/Roseban K College) was dubbed PacWest Goalkeeper and Newcomer of the Year in a vote by the head coaches of the nine conference teams. In addition, head coach Petar Draksin was named PacWest Coach of the Year.
Seven Antelopes made the All-PacWest team.
